Diane Steele

Diane is the principal designer and coordinator for Yankee Floral, currently an events floral studio, catering to the Capital District of New York.  She had originated Yankee Floral in 1989, as a full-service shop serving the southern New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Wilmington areas.  For ten years prior to that, under the banner of Designs by Diane, the live floral work had been produced in a home studio. She has a B.A. from Glassboro State (now Rowan University) in Earth Science, with Masters studies in Geology, Environmental Science, Horticulture, and Floral Design at University of New Hampshire, Rowan University, and Rutgers. Diane’s creative experience has varied from chemical refinery work and craft show sales to complex event preparations, instructing “how-to” floral classes, and receiving high honors at the Philadelphia Flower Show in 1998 (and being featured for it in the New York Times). All this has culminated in an acute sensibility for individual desires and the customization of designs, for the events, rooms, and budgets involved.
